Angie Bruton, BSN, RN, an Obstetrics Registered Nurse at Witham Health Services, received the prestigious Daisy Award for exceptional patient care.

The Daisy Award, which stands for Diseases Attacking the Immune System, is a special honor given to extraordinary nurses for the compassionate contributions they make every day going above and beyond expectations.Daisy Award

“Angie’s colleagues were not surprised to see her receive the Daisy Award. She consistently listens with empathy and cares deeply for both her patients and her teammates,” said Director of Patient Experience Rebecca Bradley. “We are so proud to recognize Angie for the extraordinary difference she makes every day.”

Bruton was nominated by a Witham maternity patient who first met her during routine non-stress tests, where she proactively prepared documentation and ensured a smooth labor and delivery experience. Bruton’s calm presence, thoughtful review of the birth plan, and steadfast advocacy created a supportive, judgment-free environment that made her feel fully respected and cared for as a first-time mother.

The Daisy Award was created in 1999 by the family of J. Patrick Barnes after he died at 33 from complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenia Purpura. During his eight-week hospitalization, they were deeply moved by the extraordinary skill and compassion his nurses showed to both Pat and their family. In his memory, they created the award to honor and recognize nurses everywhere who make a profound difference in patients’ lives every day.
