- Heart failure is a condition in which your heart can not pump enough blood to meet your body’s needs.
- Heart failure is often caused by: atherosclerosis, heart attack, uncontrolled high blood pressure, heart valve disease and alcohol or drug abuse
- Symptoms can include: shortness of breath, a dry and hacking cough, weight gain, swelling and increased fatigue
- Early diagnosis and treatment can improve quality and length of life for people who have heart failure
What is advanced heart failure?
Advanced heart failure is when conventional heart therapies and symptom management strategies are no longer working. Someone with advanced heart failure feels shortness of breath and other symptoms even at rest.
