Key habits to ensure your 2021 is off to a strong start!

  1. Drink half your body weight in ounces of water each day.
  2. Fill half your plate with non-starchy vegetables at each meal.
  3. Move your body for 30-60 minutes each day. Exercise is great, but just going for a walk, cleaning your house, dancing or playing with your kiddos will do.
  4. Set S.M.A.R.T. goals for yourself. (Specific. Measurable. Achievable. Realistic. Time-sensitive)
  5. No eating 3 hours before bed.
  6. No work, phone or tv 2 hours before bed.
  7. Extreme self-care 1 hour before bed – bath, calm/inspirational reading, face mask, breath work, stretching, journaling.
  8. Limit added sugar. We will never tell you to eliminate anything, but cutting back significantly can improve your overall health. Check salad dressings, condiments, crackers, chips, breads as well as the obvious candy, cookies, cakes, pies, pastries, sodas, etc
  9. Limit screen time and exposure to media.
  10. Get OUTSIDE. Every. DAY. Even for 5 minutes.
  11. Get 7-10 hours of sleep each night.
  12. Eat foods closest to the source. Eat the apple – not the applesauce, apple chip or apple juice. Eat the vegetable, not the veggie chips, spinach wrap, etc
  13. Schedule 5-10 minutes of mindfulness each day. No distractions.
  14. Do something kind for someone today. Hold a door, smile, write a note, etc
  15. Take a multi-vitamin.
  16. Write down 3 things you are grateful for each day.
  17. Manage your stress and the way YOU react to the stressors in your life.
  18. Let your gut rest, digest and heal at least 12 hours each day. End eating after dinner and do not eat until breakfast.
  19. Hug a loved one for at least 10 seconds.
  20. Volunteer in your community.
  21. Budget your money.
