Witham Pastoral Care Department Hosts CICOA Dementia Friends Awareness Program
September 27, 2024Witham Pastoral Care Invites you to our CICOA sponsored lunch & learn event on dementia.
The Witham Pastoral Care Department and CICOA (Central Indiana Council on Aging), are hosting the Dementia Friends education at Witham. The Dementia Friends Indiana movement seeks to advance education and awareness of dementia, reduce the stigma associated with the disease, and create community environments that are welcoming and conducive for those living with dementia. Indiana became the 10th state with a Dementia Friends program in 2017, starting with communities in central Indiana.
As the number of Indiana residents affected by dementia continues to grow, so does the need for communities to better understand dementia and better accommodate the challenges of those affected by the diseases that cause it.
A Dementia Friend is someone who wants to make a positive difference in the lives of people living with dementia through increased awareness and support. A Dementia Champion will host the meeting. The session is interactive, so you can share stories, ask questions, and learn together.
