Witham Health Services Volunteer Organization celebrates Volunteer of the Year
April 20, 2026
The Witham Health Services Volunteer Organization recently named Tom Ramsey Volunteer of the Year at its annual Spring Luncheon.
“Since joining the Witham volunteer team in 2025 after many years of dedicated service as an employee, Tom has continued to give back with remarkable commitment. He volunteers twice a week while also serving as Vice President of the Volunteer Organization Board,” said Director of Volunteer Services Amy Mitchell. “He truly embodies Witham’s core values of honesty, thoughtfulness, professionalism, and supportive community. His kindness, initiative, and genuine care for others leave a lasting impact on everyone he meets.”
Witham is also celebrating National Volunteer Week, which is observed annually during the third week of April. The volunteer program at Witham has been in existence for nearly 100 years.
“National Volunteer Week is a special time for us to celebrate and thank our volunteers for the significant contributions they make to the hospital each day by generously donating their time and talent to serve our patients, staff and the community at large,” said Mitchell. “Witham volunteers are often the first and last point of contact for patients and guests, making them a vital part of the overall experience.”
The team of more than 40 volunteers serves across 20 departments including patient transport, guest services, retail sales, pastoral care and more.
“Beyond their daily presence, they lead fundraising efforts for scholarships and hospital needs and help operate key services like our gift shops,” said Mitchell.
