Witham Health Services Celebrates National Healthcare Volunteer Appreciation Week and Announces New Volunteer Board Officers
April 18, 2025
Witham Health Services is celebrating National Volunteer Week, April 20 – 26, this year with recognition for the many volunteers who support the health system. “It is a special time for us to celebrate and thank our volunteers for the significant contributions they make to the hospital each day by generously donating their time, talent and commitment to serve our patients, staff and the community at large.” said Amy Mitchell, Director of Volunteer Services, Pastoral Care & Retail Sales at Witham.
“Witham volunteers are often-times the first and the last point of contact Witham patients and guests have while at the hospital, making them an important part of the patient experience.”
The Witham volunteer team consists of more than 50 individuals working across 22 different departments and locations throughout the main campus in Lebanon, including the Volun-teen program, No One Dies Alone and Pastoral Care.
“Volunteers not only provide an important presence in the hospital, but also contribute to cost savings for the organization,” Mitchell said.
Witham Volunteers host many fundraising events throughout the year to support the Volunteer Organization Scholarship fund, a program designed to award three Boone County Seniors pursuing a continuing education in a health related field a $1,000 scholarship, as well as to support various fund the need initiatives for the hospital. They also support and run the Waterfall’s Edge Gift Shop located at the hospital main entrance and the Pavilion Boutique located at the North Pavilion A entrance.
The Witham Volunteer Organization also recently hosted their annual meeting and awards ceremony and installed new Board Officers.
“Board Officers are community members who support the Organization by providing oversight and governance, as well as assist with various projects and programs throughout the year. Pictured below are the newly elected Board Members from left to right: Carolyn Koontz, President, MaryPat Shepherd, Vice President, Richard Moore, Treasurer and Yvonne Keffer, Secretary. We are thankful for the dedication and support of the volunteer board,” Mitchell said.
We cannot say enough how much we appreciate our Witham volunteers and the important role they play in the patient experience and helping the hospital to achieve its mission, vision and values!
