It is our honor to recognize Jacob Pell and Aden Campbell as our Sunflower Honorees!!

From Left: Jacob Pell and Aden Campbell

The sunflower Award is presented to individuals who exemplify compassion, positivity, and dedication in their daily work, but also those that go above and beyond. Jacob and Aden distinguished themselves through an event this past February.

Their extraordinary leadership, composure, and life-saving actions during a mass casualty incident exemplify the very best of what it means to be an EMS provider. Jacob and Aden were the first and only responders dispatched to the scene. Despite all obstacles thrown at them, they remained calm, focused, and in complete control of the scene. What makes Jacob’s performance even more remarkable is that many seasoned professionals might have struggled to manage such a large-scale and emotionally devastating event, but Jacob demonstrated the poise and decision making of a veteran provider. He immediately recognized the severity of the situation and, with unwavering composure, took command. He swiftly declared the incident a mass-casualty event, communicating with dispatch to request multiple ambulances, fire department support from Pittsboro, Jamestown, and Advance, and additional EMS units from Boone County. Jacob and Aden continued to work through the scene until additional help arrived. “On February 7, 2025, Jacob Pell and Aden Campbell embodied the very essence of what it means to be a first responder. Their actions reflect not only their exceptional training and skill, but also their compassion, dedication, and deep sense of duty to those in need.”

Their commitment reflects the values we strive to uphold and serves as an inspiration to all. Please join in congratulating Jacob Pell and Aden Campbell on this well-deserved recognition!
