About Me

Dr. Douglas Blacklidge is a native of central Indiana where he has practiced for more than 25 years including being founder and medical director for American Health Network/Optum’s foot and ankle team.  He has been actively involved training fellows and residents in reconstructive surgery for his entire career.  His practice interests include complex reconstruction of the foot and ankle, revision surgery, peripheral nerve surgery, charcot reconstruction, and ankle replacement. He has also been very active in the innovation of devices used for foot and ankle surgical procedures.

Dr. Blacklidge and his wife Tori reside in Boone County and have followed their two daughters through a remarkable Dance career.  They both graduated from Zionsville High School and went on to become members of the Ohio State Dance Team and are now both progressing in graduate school to become Physical Therapists.

Dr. Blacklidge said that, "Being a healthcare provider allows me to help people. I enjoy offering solutions to help improve function and resolve pain associated with foot and ankle disorders. I especially enjoy challenging or revision type cases. Providing options to patients who thought they had none is very gratifying.  The process of sharing treatment options, performing the procedure or reconstruction, and providing the postoperative care with patients is an incredible privilege. Joining Witham provides an opportunity to focus on the type of practice I enjoy most.  Witham’s location in central Indiana is ideal for the patients who travel to get an opinion regarding a “less-common” type of foot and ankle problem. The Witham family is also very inviting and provides a much more personal environment than a larger healthcare system ever could. "
