Expecting The Best. Delivering The Best.
In 2003, the Witham Foundation purchased two infant warmers for
the new Witham Maternity Center. The total cost of the warmers was
$19,658 and was made possible through Capital Campaign donations.
Mammography Equipment
In 2005 The Foundation helped purchase a Mammography (CAD) computer
aided detection-computer based unit that digitized and evaluated the
images on a microscopic level that compares the information to proven cancers.
The data enables the computer to "mark" an area on the digitized image to assist
the Radiologist on an area of potential pathology. The CAD unit is a truly valuable
resource that enables detection of breast cancer potentially 9-24 months earlier than without.
CT Scan Unit
The Foundation also helped to purchase the Philips CT-advanced imaging
system with 40 slice capabilities to image patients faster and with
significantly higher resolution. This advanced technology provides
the Radiologist with high resolution images and additional resources
for more informative interpretations to referring physicians.
4-D Ultrasound
In 2005 The Foundation helped the hospital purchase the 4D US- sonographic
unit with full ultrasound capabilities, as well as live 3D imaging.
The fourth dimension is time, which is referring to the live 3D.
This enables ultrasound imaging for increased quality of images
and 3D video clips that can be saved to a CD. This image capture
method provides patients and their family and friends the opportunity
to see their unborn child in a whole different way!
Educational Assistance
Foundation loans are available to Boone County students and Witham
Health Service employees, enabling them to pursue degrees in healthcare
professions. Since 1988, over $250,000 has been provided to students
and employees.
