When you're told you have to have medical tests done, it can be unnerving. But Witham's radiology and imaging services allow residents of Boone County and nearby areas to have tests performed close to home, at a place that is familiar and comfortable. And with the latest radiologic technology and a group of trained radiologists--including those with subspecialties such as neurological or pediatrics--Witham is able to provide the full range of diagnostic and interventional radiology.
On an annual basis, we perform approximately 48,000 radiology tests and procedures. As a result, our experience is both broad and deep--to your advantage.
Our radiology team also understands that you don't want to wait long to receive results. For the majority of tests, we're able to put them in your doctor's hands within one to two business days. More specialized tests may take an additional day or two. The fast turnaround ensures that your doctor has all relevant data to make important decisions about your care.
Types of services
Our top-quality staff, equipment and protocols ensure a safe and highly-detailed study is produced. With the latest in state-of-the-art technology for CTs, MRIs, US, NM and Digital Mammography, we can conduct studies and provide images that address even the smallest areas of concern. Below are the primary radiology services we offer:
Diagnostic Radiology
Computed Tomography (CT): highly specialized test that combines x-rays and computer systems to produce multiple diagnostic images.
Nuclear Medicine Scan: test using a special camera to create pictures of your organs (such as your heart, lungs, liver and gallbladder) and bones.
Ultrasound: 4D ultrasound technology that helps detect organ problems, such as gallstones, kidney stones or liver disease; imaging blood vessels; specific areas of abnormalities, and images of an unborn baby.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI): highly specialized test that lets your doctor see detailed pictures of the inside of your body.
Mammography: x-ray exam of your breast tissue that detects problems with your breasts, such as cysts, lumps or possibly cancer. Witham offers the latest in technology with our digital mammography units. We also use computer-aided detection technology that processes and compares the images to a database of known pathology for a "second look" opportunity for the radiologist. Additionally, we provide follow-up imaging including diagnostic mammograms, as well as other diagnostic procedures including standard, ultrasound-guided and stereotactic biopsies.
Interventional Radiology
Witham's highly-specialized radiologists also conduct several interventional radiology procedures. These procedures allow us to use a specialized approach to achieve a unique diagnosis to improve your health outcome.
Those procedures include:
- breast or organ biopsy
- PICC line placement
- vertebroplasty or kyphoplasty
- fluoroscopic placement of catheters or needles
