Unsurpassed Cancer Care

Witham Health Services and St. Vincent Hospitals are pleased to offer The Cancer Institute to Boone County and surrounding communities.  The Cancer Institute provides state-of-the-art radiation oncology services while addressing the needs of healing the body, mind and spirit through patient care and education.

IMRT (Intensity Modulated Radio Therapy) is offered at The Cancer Institute.  The goal of IMRT is to treat the tumor while decreasing the risk of the side effects that can occur with Radiation Therapy.

IGRT (Image Guided Radiation Therapy) is two and three-dimensional imaging done daily, during a course of radiation treatment, to direct the radiation beam by utilizing the imaging coordinates of the actual radiation treatment plan.  This imaging technique allows the physicians new ways to verify patient positioning and tumor position at the time of treatment.  With the use of IGRT it is possible to deliver a higher dose of radiation to the tumor, which is a definite benefit to the patient.  The Cancer Institute uses both IMRT and IGRT to treat patients with Prostate Cancer.

The Cancer Institute offers treatment for many different types of cancer, including:  lung, breast, head and neck cancers, colon and rectal cancers, prostate, brain, skin cancers, esophagus, female reproductive cancers and lymphomas.
